the Grand Success of Weekly 7 Nights/8 Days Palace On Wheels Train Tour
Program,the Rajasthan Govt in joint collaboration with Indian Railways has
introduced the bi-weekly 3 Nights/4 Days Heritage On Wheels Metre Gauge
Train Tour Ex Jaipur.The places covered by the Heritage Train Tour Include
Forts & Palaces of Bikaner;19th century wall frescoes of
Shekhawati;Black buck deer wild life sanctuary.
This Metre Gauge Palace On Wheels
Train Tour (with sharing toilets) started operations in Feb,2006 & will
cease operations on 30 Dec,2008 ;due to train tracks conversion to Broad
Gauge.
The 3 Nights Heritage on Wheels Train Tour(HOW) is a joint venture of
Indian Railways & Rajasthan Tourism,departs bi-weekly from Jaipur,every
Tuesday & Friday.
The train Tour starts annual operations from September & covers virgin
Desert Region of North Rajasthan The concept of this train tour,similar to
more famous 7 Nights broad Gauge Palace On Wheels Train Tour(with private
toilets);is that in day-time you enjoy group excursions to important tourist
places of particular region by Air-Conditioned Coaches with English Speaking
Guide & in night travel between different towns in comfort of private
A/C sleeping Chambers ,designed in local tradtional style.
There are Two Dining Cars,One Bar Lounge aboard this train & all the
twin-bedded cabins have facilirty of third bunker bed also.
DAY 01 : TUE/FRI : JAIPUR Depart
Report by 1830 hrs at Jaipur Railway Station(Metre Gauge Tracks,Platform No
6) for tradtional welcome & check- in for 3 Nights Heritage On Wheels
Train Tour.Train departs by 1930 hrs. for Shekhawati.
Dinner on board.
DAY 2: WED/SAT: SHEKHAWATI
Early
morning open air jeep excursion to Taal Chhapar Black Buck Deer
sanctuary.Return to train for breakfast.Later proceed for visit to 19th
century abandoned Havelis(mansions) painted in various interesting designs
using vegetable dye colours-located in villages of Mehnsar,Mandawa &
Nawalgarh.Enjoy lunch at Heritage Hotel.Afternoon return to train for
rest.Evening proceed for Dinner & cultural program at Heritage
Hotel.Night train departs for Bikaner.
DAY 3: THURS/SUN: BIKANER
After onboard breakfast visit the tourist sights of this 16th century
Desert Out-Post town; including intricately carved Jain Temples,Junagarh
Fort & Havelis.Enjoy Tonga-ride(Horse drawn carriage) through narrow
by-lanes of Bikaner town.Return to train for Lunch.Late afternoon visit
local Camel Breeding Farm,to understand how to identify various camel
families.After High tea at heritage hotel,proceed for farewell dinner at
Gajner Palace Hotel.Return to train late night & depart for Jaipur.
DAY 4: FRI/MON: JAIPUR Return
Arrive back at Jaipur Railway Station by 0700 hrs( Metre Gauge
Tracks,Platform No 6) & after early breakfast,train tour ends.
